ABOUT THE SOUND CITY BAND

The grandson of T.V. Ramos, Thomas Eden Ramos, is one of the pioneers of punta rock music. From the early 80s to the mid 90s, his band, "Sound City" and its follow up "Sound In Corp" dominated the punta rock music seen. The punta hit "Conch Soup", "Sopa De Caracoal" in Spanish, was the biggest hit of that band and is considered in some circles the biggest punta song ever. Banda Blanca, a group from Honduras, further popularized the song.

Along with his brother Chico Ramos, Thomas and Sound City toured the world and entertained hundreds of thousands. From New York, to Chicago, to Las Vegas, to Cuba, to Trinidad, to London, to Honduras, to Mexico, and to Guatemala, Sound City and later Sound In Corp excited fans the world over.

THOMAS EDEN RAMOS AND SOUND CITY MUSICAL HISTORY AND LEGACY

HIS MUSICAL FOUNDATION:

Thomas Eden Ramos venture into music started in 1968 with Zeke Combo in Dangriga, Belize. His first payment as a musician was a potted meat sandwich and bottle of lemonade at Eden's Rose club in Dangriga. He played acoustic drums for two years with Zeke Combo before he joined the Magicians Combo, another band from Dangriga, Belize. He played acoustic drums with the Magicians Combo in Dangriga, Belize for two years. Eden's musical experience with both Zeke and the Mediators and the Magicians Combo is what he considers to be his learning years in music.

After leaving the Magicians Combo, he joined another band from Dangriga called the Octagons. He then went to Corozal, Belize and joined the Survivors. Eden's years with the Survivors was his first experience with musicians and artists management. In 1976, Eden went to Belize City and became the drummer for Glen Bood and the Mediators. His experience with Glen Bood is where Eden became a seasoned drummer, toured Belize, mastered musical arrangement, mastered musician management, and learned the business aspect of music. The experience with Glen Bood and the Mediators prepared Eden well for his musical career. He formed his own band by the name of Sound City in 1980.
